Cadent iTero™
DR. DON HILDEBRANDT IS THE FIRST DENTIST TO MAKE USE OF NEW DIGITAL IMPRESSION METHOD FOR RESTORATIVE PROCEDURE.
Cadent iTero™ removes the impressions from bridges, crowns and veneers. Reflections dental is the first dental clinic in the Glendale to make use of Cadent iTero™ digital impression system. This revolutionary system significantly improves the experience for patients who require dental impressions for restorative procedures such as crowns, bridges, and veneers. The traditional method of creating an impression is a laborious and often an inexact science. Dentists place a tray of unpleasant tasting goo in a patient’s mouth which slowly hardens into a putty-like material that is often forcibly extracted. If the impression is not precise, the dental restoration may require excessive adjustment or may need to be remade altogether, resulting in added chair time and further discomfort for the patient. iTero uses proprietary scanning technology to generate a virtually perfect impression in less time and with less discomfort to the patient.

Guided by voice prompts from a computer, Dr. Hildebrandt takes several scans of the area with a hand-held wand. An exact replica of a patient’s tooth is captured without the need to create a physical mold. “The iTero system allows me to create more precise impressions and eliminates the need for retakes. Because the scans are displayed on a monitor as I work, I can make adjustments and show the patient the end result in real-time,” said Dr. Hildebrandt. “Using iTero means the patient spends less time in the chair and increases my overall productivity. By taking away the dreaded goo, iTero also increases patient comfort.” The iTero digital impression system is manufactured and marketed by Cadent Corporation (Carlstadt, N.J.). iTero technology utilizes a groundbreaking intra-oral scanner to capture the 3-D geometry of the tooth preparation area. With each scan, the iTero software captures 100,000 data points in a patient’s mouth. The digital models are magnified and displayed while the patient is still in the chair. The real time analytical tool enhances the visualization that allows the dentist to make adjustment if required before the scanning process completion. As the image file is approved by the dentist, it is sent electronically to a cadent- partnering dental laboratory.
The laboratory reviews the digital file and sends it electronically to Cadent’s manufacturing facility for milling into the physical model. Cadent gives back the physical model to the dental laboratory nearby. The laboratory implements the aesthetics to give the final result – a beautiful, correct-fitting restoration- to the dentist office and all this within proper service time.
